Studio View 2016

Looking forward to the New Year! Many things are happening in the studio, none that I've shared on social media yet. I'm working on a number of other work that still incorporate the tags but are vastly different that the cross over pieces of the last couple of years. These involve the use of grids and monochromes with just hints of the tags visible. I plan on showcasing these pieces along side my  evolving Hard Edge paintings. 

Echo Art Fair

Echo Art Fair, Buffalo, New York. September 6-7, 2014

Here are images of paintings recently on view at the Echo Art Fair in Buffalo New York. The work was part of a presentation by ROCO - The Rochester Contemporary Art Center to promote their ongoing series "State of the City" which I was part of in 2013. At the fair I showed three 36" x 24" paintings including a number of works on paper. Also exhibiting in the booth was Rochester artist Kurt Ketchum.

Upcoming - MLB Fan Cave

Hard Edge Paintings MLB2-NYM and MLB3-OA, 2014

These are two of four paintings that will be on view at the MLB Fan Cave in New York City opening April 3rd from 7-9pm. I also will have new microphone sculptures and mix media collages on view. Looking forward to the show. These paintings are a unique body of work for me. The colors are based on specific MLB team colors and the tags I use are of rappers who are fan of these teams. I chose the diamond shape in reference to the baseball diamond but also because of its association with modernist artists such as Piet Mondrian. I thought because of the venue I'd make the four paintings play off of these elements. Normally the color choices for my paintings are arbitrary. I think of these works as unique pieces.

I'll have four paintings, two sculptures, and eight mixed media pieces that will be on view at the MLB Fan Cave in NYC. The opening reception is Thursday, April 3rd, from 7-9pm.

Work packed and ready for Miami! I will be participating in this years UNTITLED Art Fair with Hionas Gallery, booth C18. Two new 68" x 48" and two small 24" x 24" hard-edge paintings, plus a new stainless steel wall mounted microphone stand sculpture.

As a bonus, I am one of four artists commissioned to make limited edition prints specifically for the UNTITLED Art Fair courtesy of Sololab, NYC. The prints will be available at UNTITLED Sololab booth B26 during the run of the fair.

Finally got around to finishing this piece. I think I'll spend the next month making a couple more of these small pieces. I'm also going to re-work a couple of other paintings that are in storage including a microphone sculpture. That's the problem with rushing things for exhibition. Sometimes things don't feel finished, what ever that means?

Recently I got this painting back from an exhibition and I decided to re-work it. It never really felt finished until now. Dropped it off yesterday at Hionas Gallery along with a new 24" x 24" painting (#130) and four works on paper. Anyone interested in purchasing this work can contact the gallery.

Beekman Street Banner Project, Beacon, New York 2012

Here are images of my artwork reproduced on a Banner on Beekman Street. It's my Hard Edge Painting #126. The cropping makes it look almost like a Joseph Albers. It'll be up for two years so if anyone is visiting Beacon check it out. Beekman Street is the road that links the Metro North train station, the Dia Museum and Main Street.

Images from my solo exhibition "Microphone Check" at Hionas Gallery in NYC. On view until July 7th. I'm pleased with the exhibition and happy that all the paintings in the show will have new homes. Hopefully all the other work in the show will sell as well. It would be nice not to have to send work to storage. Four more weeks to go!
