This piece was the first of my "fade pieces" done back in 2003 as a site specific installation for the Queens Museum of Art. I think I've done about 7 fade pieces now. It's an on-going series. The concept for this work originated out of the idea of "fading" as it's used by DJ's when they mix one record into another. I thought it could work on a conceptually level by "fading" one language into another. Most of the pieces fade from english into spanish reflecting my own bilinguel upbringing. On two occasions I've done english into another language.
