Here is an image of a new site specific work for S'long As It's Yours @ Gallery Aferro in Newark, NJ. The sneaker piece for the moment is "Untitled" (Puma).
Sometimes unexpected things happen when working site specific. In the case of the sneakers, I used a theatrical light to light the piece and got a cast shadow of the sneakers on the wall which I really liked. I think it adds to the meaning of the piece, the glamour of street life, and what lays in the shadows metaphorically.
Since I was one of the first to install my pieces not much was up. I'm looking forward to seeing the other work in the show. The exhibition is curated by Emma Wilcox. Participating artists include:
